The successful candidate will be expected to teach three classes per semester, maintain active research and exhibition activities and serve on university committees. Candidates should have the ability to teach all levels of Ceramics, including clay and glaze formulation, as well as integrate into the Spatial Arts program.
Additional responsibilities include student advising, ceramic studio management, curriculum development, portfolio review, and to provide direction and guidance for advancing the University’s strategic priorities of inclusive excellence, student retention, and graduation. Spatial Arts is located in a separate facility from the Fine Arts Center and includes both wheel throwing and hand building areas, glaze room, clay mixing room, and gas, electric, and wood fired kilns. Also housed in the facility are a complete wood shop, metal shop, and a foundry. Spatial Arts has a full time technician.
Minimum qualifications include an M.F.A. in studio art, design or its equivalent, an active professional creative practice including a strong exhibition record, demonstrated knowledge of ceramic techniques and processes, and being well versed in contemporary and historical visual arts.
Previous teaching experience preferred.
