- installation work in 2016 solo exhibition When Horses Walked on Water at Craft Ontario Gallery, Toronto - Procession - porcelain sculptures incorporated with electric train parts - a series of parade floats is based on period illustrations depicting the historical tableaux displayed in the procession in honour of Toronto's semi-centennial of 1884 - Cormorant Weather - body - porcelain; wings - tree seeds, cattails, epoxy resin - constructed wings using the long reed from the native water plant (cattail) and seed pods from trees, attached to sculptural body - exploring the relationship to nature and industrial development through bird imagery, from historical photographs of lakes and geography in Canadian cities prior to their major industrial development, depicting large swaths of marsh wetland
Artist Statement
Lisa Creskey is a ceramic artist and painter who explores the visual storytelling potential of the clay medium through sculpture and installation. Investigating themes of nature, history and time, Lisa creates immersive worlds in which to look for connections and to pose questions on essential concerns for humanity and the environment.
Bio
Lisa is the recipient of the Prix du CALQ 2017 – Work of the Year in the Outaouais (Conseil des Arts et des Lettres du Québec), awarded for her solo public exhibition Match at gallery Art-Image in 2016.She is a finalist in the Korea International Ceramic Biennale KICB2019 (formerly Gyeonggi International Ceramics Biennale). Lisa was awarded a 3-month residency in the 2019 Taiwan Ceramics Residency Program hosted by the New Taipai City Yingge Ceramics Museum. Lisa is a finalist in the 2020 Taiwan Ceramics Biennale. She received a Recommendation Prize in the 2016 Taiwan Ceramics Biennale and was also a finalist in the 2014 Taiwan Ceramics Biennale. Lisa’s work received a 2018 Craft Award from Craft Ontario – The Helen Copeland Memorial Award in Ceramics.Lisa lives and works in Chelsea, Quebec.
