Artist Statement

My present work explores the fusion of current technology with the human form. I use abstraction and hybridization as avenues to visualize my own confrontation with the physical absolute of death and the larger role this plays in the symbiosis between the technological environment and posthuman evolution. This technologizing of the human body, or making technology more organic, was borne from the experience of observing my father’s struggle with his own failing body as cancer metastasized from his colon to his spinal column. His denial of his own death spurred my own concerns regarding acceptance of mortality, the proliferation of biotechnological intervention in the renovation of the human body, and how technology has expanded our evolution.
