Stephanie Wallendjack ( she/her )

Artist Statement

The exploration of non-functional forms as conduits for light and thought is the current direction of Wallendjack's work.

Objects are pushed towards increasing translucency and weightlessness. Finding balance between chaos and control is integral in this process.

Bone china and porcelain fiber clay are the medium of choice in Wallendjack's work. Cellulose fibers (recycled paper, cotton, bamboo, abaca, etc.) are incorporated into porcelain clay, allowing increased flexibility in creating thin, lightweight forms.

Inspiration is drawn from the varied microcosms of the natural world, entomology being of particular interest.
