Artist Statement

The ceramics of Saint Mbembo operates more about forms and lines. His work exploits movements, hollow, reliefs, textures, patterns, architectures, vehicles, human silhouettes, animals or various objects who are mostly distorted to the specific form to express how human constantly changes by his needs and life desires, which are also influenced by his environment.

In a universe where the human being lives with envies and desires of possessing or conquering his daily life. He is attracted by the usual objects and accessories that have transformed his life way and makes him dependent.

Owning a new car, a new home, a latest smartphone, luxurious clothes give the impression of having a higher status and ultimate conquest of space. Let us say, the appearance has conditioned our lives and our habits, which makes from the interior of human being is completely changed by all its desires.

The hate, a new love story, happiness, dependence on money or another good…greed and every challenge that human lives affect his acting way and differ him from its initial state and reacts differently.

Based on this observation that the artist, by his aesthetic, combines and transforms the different recognized forms and figures, gives them a state reflecting all the problems that modify their exterior from interior for a much more expressive state.
