The Sister Dennis Artist Residency offers artists the opportunity to engage with their studio practice and with the community of the College of St. Benedict and St. John’s University (Minnesota) in a six-week residential program. This residency is open to artists working in any media or in cross-disciplinary practices.
This is a family friendly residency with no application or residency fees. Residents receive a $1200 stipend; stay for free in a furnished apartment designed by world-class Bauhaus architect, Marcel Breuer; work in a private visiting artist studio; and have access to studio classrooms and equipment at the university (ceramic studio/kilns, wood shop, digital lab, printmaking, book arts, sculpture, video, painting, and drawing studios) outside of scheduled class times. Opportunities to engage with other university resources such as: CSBSJU’s art collections and archives, Hill Museum and Manuscript Library, or the grounds of the St. John’s Abbey are available and accessible from the visiting artist studio.
The Resident will give a public artist lecture, provide studio visits with senior art majors, and present the work of the residency in an Open Studio Reception at the end of the residency.
