Job Title: Studio Coordinator
Location: The Pottery Workshop Shanghai
Reports To: The Pottery Workshop Business Manager and Executive Director
Job Description : The Studio Coordinator of the Pottery Workshop Shanghai supports the Executive Director and the Business Manager in the vision, operation, maintenance and technical aspects of the program, studio, facilities and equipment. The Studio Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the studio programs: maintaining supplies, general upkeep and maintenance of their specific studio facilities, including technical and educational assistance to residents, visiting artists, students and to facilitate the training of staff and instructors. In addition, the Studio Coordinator supports the Business Manager with duties of the Pottery Workshop Shanghai. The Studio Coordinator position is a year-round, full-time position, approximately 40 hours per week from March through mid-February.
Position starts by: Spring 2018
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- A strong understanding of ceramic processes, equipment and technologies
- Coordinate and manage daily running / operations of the studio including: weekly classes,studio renters, workshops, visiting artist lectures and facility maintenance
- Coordinate and program PWS classes and schedule
- Maintain a clean, productive and safe studio.
- Manage studio staff and instructors, be responsible for delegating daily tasks and work orders
- Implement the PWS business plan and strategy in accordance with the Business Manager and Executive Director
- Assist in regular advertising, publications, sponsorship and outreach with PWS Staff
- Demonstrate organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Participate and organize regular departmental meetings
- Be a leader, be a team player and be a contributor. Effective people skills are crucial.
Experience in running and operating a ceramics studio department is preferred – MFA preferred
