The University of Arkansas is seeking an active studio artist and teacher in the field of Ceramics for a 3-year, non-tenure track position. Applicants should demonstrate a strong commitment to expanded and innovative definitions of ceramics while also possessing knowledge of traditional ceramic techniques and dialogues. The chosen applicant will be expected to maintain a vigorous and consistent personal practice while teaching a 2/2 course load and contributing to the operation of the ceramics studio and program. Courses available range from the introductory to graduate level and may include non-ceramics courses such as foundations (depending on expertise and interest). Maintaining an active professional schedule beyond the university is a must. A private studio, ceramic materials, and access to School of Art labs and equipment is provided.
Job Duties:
- Teach a 2/2 course load in areas related to applicant’s expertise
- Mentor graduate, post-baccalaureate, and advanced ceramics students, participate in undergraduate and graduate critiques
- Help oversee ceramics facility and equipment
- Assist in overseeing graduate assistants and work-study personnel, as needed
- Assist in purchasing, organizing, and maintaining an inventory of supplies, as needed
- Be a consistently present and active member of the studio community
- Contribute positively to area and school recruitment efforts
- Maintain an active research record
Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
