CITY OR COUNTRYSIDE??
We have just posted the 2017 dates for our short-term residencies in Rome, Italy. Founded in 2012, c.r.e.t.a rome is an international center for ceramics and the arts co-founded by American art-historian, Lori-Ann Touchette and Italian ceramic artist, Paolo Porelli. We offer residencies in our studio in the historical center of Rome and also in the countryside near the lake of Bracciano. The first application deadline is 1 November 2016 for spring 2017 residencies. In the past four years, c.r.e.t.a. rome has hosted over 60 artists from all over the world for short-term residencies.
The residency fee covers a semi-private equipped studio, shared housing (private room) in the historical center of Rome, and technical assistance in procuring materials, firings, etc., advice on museums, galleries and sites in Rome and beyond. We also offer a residency in the countyside near Bracciano, with private accommodation in a 1-bedroom house with a garden and a private studio. This option is particularly attractive for collaborative projects and/or ceramic artists who work with reduction firing or those who would like to bring their spouse/partner and/or children.
Artists have the opportunity to focus on their art, whether it be creating a new body of work, expanding a well-established oeuvre or allowing themselves to draw inspiration from their surroundings and the centuries of culture that define the eternal city. In addition, they will have access to the wealth of galleries and exhibitions in Rome and beyond. Artists are encouraged to submit a proposal for a final exhibition to display the work created during the residency period.
