Artaxis is a US-based federally recognized 501(c)3 non-profit art organization. We are also registered as state non-profits in Indiana and Minnesota.
We are all volunteer organization, so all donations and income streams are utilized directly for our programming, website development and hosting expenses, and outreach efforts to expand the reach of our member artists and enrich the ceramics community.
We are currently focused on a large initiative to revamp our website so we can better utilize it as a platform for our programming and outreach efforts. This is why such a large percentage or our costs in recent years are being committed to web development.
We believe that all donors should know where their money is being spent.
For the sake of transparency, in 2021 we brought in $19,605 in donations, application fees, and revenue from the Artaxis Shop. These two charts show the sources of income in percentages, and a percentage breakdown of our donation sources.
In 2021, our expenses were $20,149. At 90%, our website development was the largest expense in 2021. The remaining 10% was distributed between the other programming expenses listed in the chart.
Website development efforts have:
- made search functionality better
- automated jury process (quicker jury results)
- automated page creation for new members
- created member logins for all Artaxis members to update their own content
- migrated all artist pages to dynamically generated pages
- added pronoun field on artist pages
- synced our map feature with Artaxis member user data
- improved website security and international content delivery
In addition to our Donation page at Artaxis.org/Donate, we have several fundraising options to meet the needs of donors at any level. Your donations are critical to enable us to engage the ceramics community through promotional, educational, and networking programs while celebrating diverse artistic practices and being a resource of aesthetic values.
