We are thrilled to announce this year’s recipient of the K-12 Artaxis Award of Excellence, Benjamin H! Benjamin is an 11th grader from St. Marks School Of Texas Upper School – Dallas, TX. Benjamin’s instructor is Scott Ziegler. Each year, we award one artist in the NCECA K-12 exhibition with the Artaxis Award of Excellence, which includes a $100 award and an original artwork. The artwork this year was generously donated by Artaxis Member, Didem Mert.
Benjamin’s work, “Mischief”, won over our selection committee for it’s overall character – the nuance of touch, subtleties of color and materiality that only clay can capture, and the gesture of the form captivated the jurors. We have to say – it was even better to see it in person this past week at NCECA!
