SUNY New Paltz is seeking an outstanding artist and educator for a full-time position at the rank of Lecturer during Fall 2016 semester.

Responsibilities:

The position consists of a teaching load of 3 courses in Fall 2016 at the undergraduate level from the following: Basic Ceramics, Intermediate Ceramics Processes and Techniques, and Wheel Throwing. In addition to teaching, the position will work with ceramics faculty to establish a new initiative in ceramic design, fabrication, and production. We are in the planning and development stages of a small-scale ceramic manufacturing and digital design center that will act as a bridge between designer, maker, educator, and community. These additional responsibilities equal the balance of the full-time position.

Minimum Qualifications:

MFA in studio art or the equivalent, with an active professional practice and record; University-level teaching experience; outstanding communication and organizational skills; ability to engage creatively and collaborate effectively with teaching faculty, technicians, and a diverse student population.

Preferred Qualifications:

University-level teaching experience beyond graduate TA; experience in ceramic design and production including digital fabrication processes; experience with additive manufacturing, 3d printing, and CNC prototyping; experience with wood shop operation and safety.

Please ensure that application materials address the minimum qualifications. Applicants who do not meet the minimum qualifications will be disqualified from consideration for the position.

Benefits:

The position includes: a 150 square foot studio in our state-of-the-art facility; all clay, glaze materials, and firings within reason; fee access to numerous ceramic, PLA, and ABS 3d printers, a 4 x 8 CNC mill, ceramic decal printer, vinyl cutter, laser cutter, 3d scanners; fee access to the Makerbot Innovation Center and Hudson Valley Center for Advanced Manufacturing.

To Apply:

Please email (or provide a link in email) one PDF file with the following: letter of application; artist statement; teaching philosophy; Curriculum Vitae; 20 images of professional work with an annotated image list; 10 images of student work with an annotated image list; and contact information for three references. Multiple files will not be accepted. Email to: shiftana@newpaltz.edu and to czibeszb@newpaltz.edu

Priority deadline for applications is June 1st. Applications will be reviewed until the position is filled.
