Artaxis member, Lauren Mabry, has a solo exhibition opening at the Lux Center in Lincoln, Nebraska on Friday, October 2 from 5-8 p.m.

About the exhibition, the Lux Center writes, “Artist Lauren Mabry obtained her MFA in Lincoln and has since been a resident artist at The Clay Studio in Philadelphia, PA and Harvard University. In 2014, she received the Emerging Artist Award from the National Council on Education for Ceramic Arts. Recently, she lectured at Harvard University and the Arizona State University Art Museum Ceramic Research Center.
Mabry treats each of her large wheel-thrown cylinders like a canvas, covering each surface with painterly marks in a range of colors and textures that are at once skillful and playful in their application. Each of Mabry’s works is a delight to behold.
Mabry currently travels between Philadelphia and Arizona to produce industrially sized ceramic sculptures in collaboration with Mission Clay Products, and this fall, she will be a resident artist at the Jingdezhen International Ceramic Center in China. Leslie Ferrin of the Ferrin Contemporary gallery in Massachusetts recently called Mabry an “artist to watch.”
