Thomas Müller: “Oasis” at Sturt Haaga Gallery

September 7, 2015 by Brian

Artaxis member, Thomas Müller has new work opening in an exhibition titled “Oasis” at Sturt Haaga Gallery in La Cañada Flintridge, California.

“Many people think of and describe Descanso Gardens as an “oasis.” It may be because they experience it as an outpost of nature in a growing and more urbanized Los Angeles; maybe a concentration of green in an otherwise dun-colored landscape; maybe as an island of peace and quiet in an increasingly clamorous world. The exhibition ‘Oasis’ will explore through artists’ and poets eyes and sensibilities the many meanings and connotations of “oasis” — refuge, mirage, and as islands of human activity that contrast the surrounding landscape. Artwork will be in the Haaga Gallery as well as in the Garden. Artists and poets included are Carlos Almaraz, Molly Bendall, Elizabeth Bryant / Patrick Nickell, Jamison Carter / Margaret Griffith, Laura Cooper / Nick Taggart, Michael Davis, Donna Frazier Glynn, Sandra Haeuplik-Meusburger / Carrie Paterson, Deborah Hede, Flora Kao, Douglas Kearney, Helen Lessick, Won Ju Lim, Thomas Müller, Lucas Reiner, Rebecca Ripple, Melanie Schiff, Kyungmi Shin, Hataya Tubtim, Alexandra Wiesenfeld, Terry Wolverton.”
