University of Maine, Presque Isle – Lecturer of Ceramics

The University of Maine at Presque Isle’s Art Program is seeking a part-time, non-tenure track Lecturer of Ceramics to begin in the upcoming fall semester. The appointment is for one academic year, with the possibility of renewal based on performance and program needs. The primary responsibility will be teaching beginning through advanced levels of handbuilding, glazing, firing, clay recycling and throwing in Ceramics.

The ideal candidate will be able to teach the aesthetics and functions of ceramics, as well as display an understanding and appreciation for both contemporary and historical ceramics. Teaching problem solving and critical evaluation of ceramic work is a core aspect of this position.
