The School of Art and Design, New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University seeks a dynamic artist and educator for a one-year position inCeramic Art at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor. The position will begin in August 2024. The salary range for this position is $49,000-$52,000, depending on experience.
We seek a dynamic artist who is excited about the future of ceramic art. The successful candidate will be building an exhibition record/recognition in the field and be enthusiastic about teaching. We are seeking applicants immersed in one or any combination of genres; vessel, ceramic sculpture, sculpture/installation, design, or forms at the intersection of all these. While the applicant’s relationship to material specificity or plurality may be open and variable, interested candidates should possess a strong background in ceramic methodology with an ability to speak to contemporary practice across genres. Additionally, we encourage applications from studio artists with any of the following competencies including but not limited to: craft/art/cultural theory; glaze chemistry/material science; digital methodologies/technologies; program conceptualizing and building. A strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate education and teaching is expected.
