Responsibilities:
Teaches three courses per semester as well as supervises and teaches advanced studies. Teaching load will include introductory, advanced and graduate level courses in ceramics (hand-building and wheel throwing). Management and maintenance of the ceramics studio is expected. Trains graduate assistants and work study students. Oversees and facilitates health and safety in the ceramics studio. Also responsible for activities related to teaching and learning including but not limited to, instructional planning and curriculum development, student recruitment and retention, student advising and assessment of student learning activities.
Qualifications:
M.F.A. in Ceramics required. Knowledge of clay and glaze calculation. Ability to load, fire and maintain both gas and electric kiln and experience with firing wood and soda kilns.
Desirable Qualifications:
Candidates with university level teaching experience and service are preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to manage a ceramics studio. Ability to lift 25 pounds.
