Artaxis and Studio Potter Expand Article Archive

August 24, 2017 by Brian

We are happy to announce that we have enhanced our partnership with Studio Potter by offering more Studio Potter articles authored by Artaxis members, providing the articles free to all viewers. There are now over 30 articles linked to Artaxis member pages.

The articles provide another educational resource for students, professional artists, and the general public and highlight these artists’ contributions to the field of ceramics as writers. Artaxis and Studio Potter are proud to support them and further strengthen the dialogue within our community.

Educators, as you head back into the school year, please encourage your students to take advantage of this resource!

Learn more about Studio Potter

Debbie Kupinsky’s 2009 piece, “The Figure as Metaphor,” explains her belief that the figure is a powerful vehicle through which thoughts and feelings can be expressed more potently than through language.

In their 2010 collaboration, “Visual Translations,” longtime friends Holly Walker and Linda Casbon discuss the boundary between two- and three-dimensional pieces of art, and how their use of painting unites them.

Kathy Erteman’s 2010 article, “Crossing Over,” ruminates on how an exploratory three-year sabbatical allowed her to think beyond ceramic vessels and expand her work into new techniques, mediums, and perspectives.

Grace Sheese’s 2015 piece, “Highlighting the Human,” discusses how the uniqueness of human touch continues to set her work apart from the ever-advancing, mass-production industry.

We are excited that the growth of this partnership increases the educational reach for both non-profit organizations. Like Artaxis, Studio Potter is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, providing ad-free content for the enrichment of the ceramics community as a whole.

Sincerely,
The Artaxis Board of Directors, Executive Director, and International Coordinator,
Brian Harper, Alanna DeRocchi, Adam Welch, Dandee Pattee, Samuel Johnson, Dylan Beck, Lauren Gallaspy, and Anthony Stellaccio
